Retired Brigadier General John Sunday Sura has officially picked the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to contest the Plateau State governorship election under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressing confidence in the process and pledging to deliver fresh ideas aimed at restoring peace and development in the state.
The event took place at the national headquarters of the ADC located at No. 2 Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse, Abuja, where supporters, stakeholders and well-wishers gathered to witness what they described as the beginning of a renewed vision for Plateau State.
Sura, who hails from Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, said his decision to join the governorship race was driven by the urgent need to address insecurity, promote prosperity and rebuild peaceful coexistence across the state.
Speaking after obtaining the nomination forms, the retired military officer stated that his ambition is centered on “what matters now” to the people of Plateau.
“I am driven by what matters now on the Plateau, which is the safety of lives and property, prosperity, and the conviction to establish Plateau as a haven for mutually beneficial coexistence among the good people of Plateau State and beyond,” he said.
Supporters of the aspirant described him as a leader with strong security expertise, financial discipline and a commitment to restoring Plateau’s reputation as the “Home of Peace and Tourism.”
According to them, Sura’s governorship ambition is anchored on delivering impactful governance that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people, with emphasis on communal security, empowerment and economic growth.
He further expressed optimism that his movement would usher in a new phase of collective progress for the state.
“This will be the beginning of the best collective movement for the new Plateau State,” he added.
The Sura campaign team also disclosed that the movement would unveil its blueprint for Plateau State immediately after the screening of aspirants scheduled for this week.
