Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared the reasons she remains single at 52, revealing that the decision is not entirely by choice.
In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, Akintola, whose mother hails from Edo State and father from Oyo State, described marriage as a sacred union that should take place in the house of God, surrounded by loved ones.
The actress disclosed that she once met a man she believed she could spend her life with, but he passed away, and she has not found anyone else since. She stressed that honesty and truth are essential in a relationship and that she would only marry if she was certain she could stay with her partner for life.
“I don’t have children, unfortunately. Marriage is important. I haven’t found the person I would do the rest of my life with. I did, but he died. If I believe I can, I would marry—even at 78. Why not?” she said.
While emphasizing that marriage does not define a woman’s worth, Akintola noted that companionship becomes more important as one gets older, especially when children have grown and moved on. She believes marriage in later years can help prevent loneliness.
