Renowned comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere, popularly known as Ali Baba, has come a long way. At a time when everyone thought it scornful to be addressed as a ‘comedian’, Ali Baba came up courageously and creatively, subsequently changing history by pioneering stand-up comedy in Nigeria.

22 years on, different individuals have continued to set the pace in comedy and indeed made it into a viable brand. Plateau State has a host of good talents who keep it real and are considered one of the best in stand-up Comedy.

10- Mc Sabisabi

A young handsome guy who has the ability to make you laugh. What more could you ask from sabisabi when his name says it all? He is a stand Up Comedian, Compere, MC, Reporter and Radio Presenter with ICE FM 96.1 Jos City. He is an undergraduate of the university of Jos.

9. Mc 2.5 (PDP)

What an apt name for an Mc ( To see him on stage you will have to strain your eyes to see him).His real name Pam Emanuel, surely style and humour makes up a lot for his 2.5 height. He started comedy professionally in 2005 after winning the best secondary School comedian in lagos conducted by Gbanga Adenyinka and has been in Jos ever since making so many shows. He also is on the crew of 93.7fm friday comedy program with adoring fans.

8. Praise.Com (praisedotcom)

A Comedian with a unique style who also is an Air Personality(OAP) with unity fm 93.3 Jos, also he manages one of the fastest growing entertainment outfits in Jos. To add to his impressive resume,he is an Event Planner and Event Compare/Mc. This Kogi state Born show-biz personality is an advocate of ‘Gospetainment’ and has Planned and Performed several Events on the Plateau and recently the host of laff n sax with a maiden edition last year. He is a social events master with unforgettable humour filled time in Gods Presence.

7. MC. Commander

Jerry Ejembi is one standup comedy act that is popular for his “pako” and “ajebutter” kind of comedy. It is never a dull moment for his audience as he sends them into a frenzy with the humour that epitomises him.

This Benue state born comedian has got the real jokes from the streets and ghetto( possibly because he grew up a pako).

6. FUNNY GEE

Just like his stage name goes GEE is absolutely funny, rumour has it that his mother was laughing all through labour, well, that’s a question you would have to ask him yourself. Alechenu Ondoma is presently serving in Taraba state and was just recently conferred the 2nd best NYSC comedian in Nigeria.

5. MC Dr Sugar Cane

First he is a knock-off Mc, secondly he is a Doctor of the entertainment genre and to top it all this dude has is sugar-cane coated tongue (he can convince you hell is cold, beware!). This versatile comedian is a master of his game and delivers natural humour. He is an Actor and an AOP with HighLanD FM Jos. When ever he stands up he becomes a three in one personality.

4. OMODAN(comedy pastor)

The Ethical and spirit filled master,Daniel Okwuokei is perhaps the most audience sensitive comedian in Nigeria. He is the C.E.O of D’ORIGIN Entertainment Company & also OAP on Rhythm 93.7fm Jos. He was recently made the Youth Ambassador to the Redeemed Christian Church of God Plateau Province. Omodan as a brand is a Compere,Comedian,On air personality, Public Speaker and Entrepreneur…and like an icon that he, Omodan goes by the title; no.1 Comedy Pastor on radio

3. Ayuba Dusai (black albino)

He is one stand up comedian that will likely be credited for making stand-up comedy glamorous on the Plateau. Originality he’s got it as so many jokes can be traced back to him. Ayuba Dutse is an OAP with PeaceFM jos he is also the first comedian to make and sell hausa comedy tapes (Wayo chiki na) in Plateau and other northern parts of the country. Even though he has been there over the years he is still considered a humour master and definitely still knows his onions.

2. Mc Longs

When you want style then its got to be Longi Joseph. This young father of two stands unique just like klint, you can never try hard to copy him cause its in him. The comedy governor on the Plateau is also one of the best talents within nigeria as he has performed in gigs all over the country and is well known. He is an On Air Personality with PeaceFm jos and indeed is a laugh merchant as he could make you spend your last coin just for a joke and keeps you spell bound and wanting more.

1. Osama Akunonu1 (PCFR)

The humorous dreadlocks master is undoubtedly the number one standup comedian on the Plateau and can rightly be described as the face of entertainment on the Plateau. He is absolutely humorous and down to earth as he could stand top comedians in Nigeria and beyond. Performing in A class comedy gigs like “Crack Your Ribs London” and sharing the stage with some of the best stand-up acts in Nigeria, he is a master. An OAP with RhythmFM jos, he has credit for hosting the biggest and best organised comedy shows on the Plateau with top acts present. This dude has got both swag and charisma that can only get better with time.
