Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has issued a strong warning to Nigeria ahead of their upcoming clash in the African playoffs semi-final for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Both nations are set to face off on November 13, with the winner advancing to the Intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2026 in Mexico. The playoffs will feature six teams, with only two securing a place in the World Cup proper.
Aubameyang, who played a key role in helping Gabon finish second in Group F behind Côte d’Ivoire, said he is fully determined to lead his country to its first-ever World Cup appearance.
“We want to go to the World Cup and, to get there, we have to win games,” Aubameyang told The Standard. “I’m very motivated, and when you have the chance to go to the World Cup, you have to be even more motivated.”
Nigeria booked their playoff spot after a convincing 4–0 victory over Benin Republic, but Aubameyang insists the Super Eagles will face a tough challenge when they meet the Panthers next month.
