Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Arsenal F.C. on winning the Premier League, praising the club’s discipline, resilience and long-term planning in securing the title.

In a statement issued on Wednesday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku commended the players, coaching staff and global fan base for what he described as a well-earned achievement built on consistency and strategic leadership.

He noted that Arsenal’s rise to the summit of English football was not accidental, but the result of years of rebuilding, patience and a clear footballing philosophy.

Drawing a parallel between the club’s success and national development, Atiku said Nigeria could learn from Arsenal’s approach by investing in young talent, strengthening institutions and maintaining a coherent long-term development strategy.

He also praised Nigerian Arsenal supporters for their loyalty through seasons without silverware, describing their commitment as a reflection of the resilience of Nigerians generally.

The former presidential candidate further used the moment to encourage optimism about Nigeria’s future, stressing that meaningful progress requires patience, consistency and sustained reform efforts.

He concluded by urging Arsenal to now focus on winning the UEFA Champions League, expressing confidence that the same determination that delivered the league title could help the club achieve further European success.
