Premier League champions Arsenal have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimarães in a deal worth £75 million.

The 28-year-old, who has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium throughout the summer transfer window, is expected to undergo a medical later this week before completing the transfer.

Personal terms are understood to have been agreed some time ago, clearing the way for the move to north London.

Newcastle are reportedly satisfied with the transfer fee, which represents a substantial profit on the £38 million they paid to French club Lyon to sign Guimarães in 2022.

The midfielder’s departure makes him the third high-profile player to leave Newcastle this summer, following Anthony Gordon’s move to Barcelona and Sandro Tonali’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are aiming to complete the signing within the next 48 hours, with arrangements already being made for the Brazilian international to undergo his medical.

Guimarães is currently with Newcastle’s squad at their training camp in La Manga, Spain, and is awaiting permission to leave the camp to finalise the transfer to Arsenal.

If completed, the signing would represent another major addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad as Arsenal strengthen their team ahead of the new season.
