… Reveals Mother’s 47-Year Battle with Illness
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed gratitude to God for the life of his late mother, Nana Lydia Yilwatda, whom he described as a pillar of strength who battled ill health for nearly five decades.
Speaking on Saturday in Jos during the burial ceremony, Yilwatda said his mother lived on medication for 47 years but remained devoted to her family and community.
“My mother worked for twenty-four hours despite her health condition, supporting us and providing humanitarian assistance,” the APC chairman said.
Yilwatda also thanked President Bola Tinubu, who attended the burial ceremony alongside his entourage, for his leadership and support, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him as the party’s national chairman.
The late Mama Lydia Yilwatda passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) at the age of 83.
Confirming her passing, the APC Publicity Secretary in Plateau State, Shittu Bamaiyi, described her as “a devoted Christian, a virtuous woman leader, and a pillar of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).”
“Her death is not only a personal loss to the National Chairman but also to the entire APC family in Plateau State and the country at large,” he stated.
Mama Lydia, alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, was said to have contributed immensely to the growth of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) across Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, and Plateau States.
