APC Dismisses Rumours of Shettima’s Replacement as Tinubu’s Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima could be replaced as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the claims as false and unfounded.

The party made this known in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

According to the statement, the APC has observed growing media speculation on the issue, which recently intensified with the circulation of names of alleged potential replacements for the Vice President.

The party categorically stated that such reports are “purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” urging media organisations to desist from amplifying rumours and relying on what it described as “mischievous news sources of questionable provenance.”

The APC also reminded the public that the ban on political activities remains in force under existing laws and electoral regulations, stressing that discussions about the 2027 elections are premature.

The ruling party said its current focus is on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly the ongoing economic reforms aimed at transforming the economy, building prosperity, and improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

The statement further cautioned ministers, senior government officials, and party leaders against actions or comments that could fuel unnecessary speculation, urging them to concentrate on effective service delivery and promoting the achievements of the Tinubu-led administration.
