Beninese music icon Angélique Kidjo has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognising her outstanding global influence and decades-long contribution to music and African culture.
Kidjo received the prestigious honour in the Recording category, becoming the first African musician and first Black African to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The recognition celebrates a remarkable career spanning decades, during which Kidjo has released 18 albums, won five Grammy Awards and played a major role in introducing African music, stories and culture to audiences around the world.
Announcing the honour, Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, praised Kidjo for her artistry and international influence.
“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome Angélique Kidjo to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Martinez said.
“Angélique Kidjo’s extraordinary artistry and global influence have inspired audiences across generations and continents. We are proud to honour her as the first African artist to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, recognising her remarkable contributions to music and culture around the world.”

Born in Ouidah, Benin Republic, Kidjo has built an internationally acclaimed career and collaborated with some of the biggest names in music.

Her collaborations include Nigerian artistes Burna Boy, Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi, as well as international stars such as Alicia Keys, Peter Gabriel and John Legend.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame honour further cements Kidjo’s status as one of Africa’s most influential musical ambassadors and celebrates her lasting impact on the global music industry.
