Adeyanju Demands NAFDAC Boss’ Exit Over Fake Drugs Crisis

Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has called on President Bola Tinubu to remove the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, over the alleged proliferation of fake and substandard drugs in Nigeria.

Adeyanju also called for the removal of heads of other regulatory agencies whom he accused of failing to adequately protect Nigerians from unsafe products.

In a statement, he urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on the circulation of counterfeit and substandard medicines and other consumer products across the country.

Adeyanju expressed concern that fake and substandard drugs were allegedly still being sold openly in markets, describing the situation as a serious threat to public health.

He called for a comprehensive review of the country’s regulatory system and urged the government to appoint new leadership capable of strengthening enforcement and protecting consumers.

The call comes amid ongoing efforts by NAFDAC to combat counterfeit and substandard medicines through enforcement operations and public awareness campaigns.
