Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the choice of a presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will be determined by party delegates at the appropriate time.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Ibe defended the growing interest among top ADC politicians in contesting for the presidency, stressing that such ambition is part of a healthy democratic process.

“There’s nothing wrong in all of them wanting to be president. The delegates of the party will, at the appropriate time, determine who will be the presidential candidate. That is democracy (as opposed to Tinubu’s dictatorship) at work,” he wrote.

Ibe went further to criticize the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing it of deepening hardship and insecurity across the country.

“The ADC Coalition leaders are angry with the mess that Tinubu has made of Nigeria. They’re angry at how the material condition of the average citizen has deteriorated. They’re angry at how Nigerians have become poorer,” he stated.

He lamented the soaring cost of food, stagnant wages, and rising inflation, saying the current administration’s policies have worsened living conditions nationwide.

“They’re livid at the worsening insecurity that has left Nigerians at the mercy of terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and marauding blood-thirsty killers. Their anger is in response to the collective anger of Nigerians who are desirous of a change,” Ibe added.

He concluded by condemning what he described as the incompetence and mismanagement of the Tinubu-led government, calling it a “waste of opportunity.”
