Abia First Lady Supports 400 Women With Disabilities With ₦20m, Food Items

The wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs Priscilla Otti, has provided ₦20 million in financial assistance and food items to 400 women living with disabilities in the state.

The support was presented on Friday in Umuahia during an outreach organised for women with disabilities as part of the 2026 Women with Disabilities August Meeting.

The initiative is aimed at supporting vulnerable women with disabilities and improving their welfare through direct financial and material assistance.

The beneficiaries received the support as part of efforts by the governor’s wife to promote inclusion and provide assistance to women living with disabilities across the state.

The intervention also highlights the need for greater attention to the economic and social challenges faced by persons living with disabilities, particularly women who may experience additional barriers to accessing opportunities and support.

Priscilla Otti has previously been involved in initiatives targeting persons living with disabilities in Abia. In March 2025, she supported 100 persons living with disabilities through the distribution of solar energy systems.

The latest intervention brings the number of beneficiaries in the current programme to 400 women, with the financial support complemented by food items.

The programme is part of ongoing efforts to provide social support and promote the inclusion and empowerment of vulnerable groups in Abia State.
