An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Ogun State, Titi Fagbote, popularly known as Ayoka, has empowered 50 women in Yewa North Local Government Area with cash as part of efforts to support their livelihoods and mobilise grassroots support for the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
The beneficiaries, comprising hairdressers, fashion designers and elderly women, received the financial support during an empowerment programme held at Omidokun Hall, Ayetoro, Yewa North.
The event also featured the inauguration of the **Ayoka Women for Yayi** group, established to mobilise women and other grassroots supporters ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Fagbote said the initiative was inspired by what she had learnt from following Adeola’s political activities and her belief that the responsibility of empowering residents should not be left solely to the politician seeking public office.
She described Adeola as a politician whose interventions had positively affected communities across Yewa North, urging the women to communicate his achievements as a senator and his plans for Ogun State as the 2027 election approaches.
According to her, empowering women has a wider impact on families and communities because women play a major role in supporting households and sustaining small businesses.
Representing Adeola’s wife, Temitope Adeola, at the event, Olori Adebisi Olaotan, Convener of the West-to-State APC Women’s Wing and President of the Dynamic Diamond Sisters, defended the senator against claims concerning his state of origin.
Olaotan maintained that Adeola is an indigene of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State and dismissed claims linking him to Ekiti State as political attacks aimed at damaging his reputation.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Rafiu Fausat, expressed appreciation for the support, saying she would use the money to increase the capital of her business and improve her livelihood.
She also urged Ogun residents to support Adeola in the 2027 governorship election.
The empowerment programme comes as political activities intensify in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections, with politicians and their supporters increasingly engaging grassroots groups and community organisations.
