The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally petitioned the Supreme Court of Nigeria, raising concerns over delays in delivering judgment on its lingering internal dispute.
The party, in a communication addressed to the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, warned that the prolonged wait for a ruling is no longer a routine procedural matter but one with potentially serious consequences.
According to the ADC, the delay is fueling uncertainty within its ranks, weakening party structures, and increasing the risk of what it described as “irreparable harm” to its political future.
The party argued that beyond its internal affairs, the situation raises broader concerns about the timeliness of justice delivery in Nigeria, warning that delayed rulings could undermine confidence in the judicial system.
It noted that the absence of a clear decision has left key stakeholders in a state of uncertainty, with reputations at stake and internal processes stalled.
While urging the apex court to act swiftly, the ADC emphasized that justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be delivered promptly, especially in matters with far-reaching political implications.
The development highlights growing concerns about judicial delays and their potential impact on political stability and institutional trust, as stakeholders continue to await the court’s decision.
