The Plateau State Youth Wing of the All Progressive Congress (APC), led by Nanloh Joseph Dashe, has called on the youths of the state to refrain from participating in the planned nationwide protest on August 1, 2024.
Dashe emphasized the need for patience, urging the youth to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a chance as his administration is diligently working to improve the lives of Nigerian youths. He highlighted several efforts by the administration, including granting full autonomy to the 774 Local Government Areas, approving a 70k minimum wage, and releasing N439 billion to the NG-CARES intervention fund for the 36 states and the FCT.
Additionally, the APC Youth Wing encouraged Plateau State students to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) by checking the recently released list of higher institutions eligible for the loan.
The Youth Wing also criticized politicians who lost in the 2023 elections for allegedly using the current situation to incite youths to protest. They extended their gratitude to religious bodies, such as the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) and the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), for advising their members against participating in the protest. The Wing also called on the JNI and ethnic groups to urge their members to abstain from the protest.
