Ahead of this year’s Christmas Celebration in Jos and parts Plateau State, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, psc has met with critical stakeholders within the State to discuss ways in which the Police and the Citizens could partner together toward ensuring a Peaceful and hitch free Christmas celebration throughout the State.
The meeting which took place at the Police Officers Mess Jos, was attended by over One Hundred (100) stakeholders representing various groups in the society.
CP Adesina in his address, brought to the attention of the good people of Plateau State, the indiscriminate use of “knock outs” and other fireworks within this period.
He stated that considering the fragile state of peace on the Plateau, these fireworks wields the potential to cause tension which could disrupt the peace of the State.
“On this note, the Commissioner of Police has placed a ban on the Sale, Purchase and Use of all fireworks within the State.
He warned that his officers across the State will henceforth arrest anyone caught using or trading in these items.
He also urged all parents/Guardians, Religious/Traditional Leaders, to caution their wards/congregants against the use of such fireworks, as the Command under his watch will not hesitate to deal decisively with violators in accordance with the relevant laws.
The Plateau CP emphasized on the need for all segments of the society to partner with the Police and other security agencies, especially in this season to ensure that peace and security of all is maintained on the Plateau
The Stakeholders in their remarks, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner of Police for his continued efforts at ensuring that Plateau State remains peaceful and United.
They stressed that this meeting was a laudable and proactive measure taken by the CP and it is worthy of praise.
They pledged their support to the CP in the ongoing fight against crime and criminality in Plateau State.
