In a recent development, an alleged scheme to dupe the son of a former Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Yakubu Jang, by a 90-year-old owner of Super Fine Furniture and Trading Company Limited has been uncovered.
Reports suggest that back in 2011, Yakubu Jang purchased a landed property along the Airforce roundabout junction in Jos from Super Fine Furniture and Trading Company Limited, purportedly owned by Mr. Gbaagile Korinjo. The acquisition reportedly followed installment payments until completion, with all necessary documents handed over to Jang in the presence of a ranking military officer as a witness.
However, recent reports indicate that the former owners of the property, including the nonagenarian and his agents, have allegedly resorted to blackmailing the new owner, Yakubu Jang, with intentions to illegally resell the property and defraud the public.
Investigations have revealed that despite transferring all land titles to Jang at the time of sale, the former owners have been threatening and intimidating him. They claim that Jang did not possess the financial capacity to purchase the land and allege that he still owes them money.
It is reported that Jang allowed the old tenants to continue using the property after purchase as he was not immediately prepared to develop the land. Payment for the land reportedly began in 2007 and concluded in December 2011.
Investigation has shown that Jang was provided with all original copies of the land titles, including the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and an irrevocable power of attorney. Sources familiar with the transactions confirmed that Jang made payments to the businessman in installments.
Expressing dismay at the situation, a source questioned why a nonagenarian would engage in such fraudulent activities. The public is urged to remain vigilant against the activities of fraudsters and avoid falling victim to alleged con artists and their agents.
Super Fine Furniture and Trading Company LTD, reportedly owned by Mr. Gbaagile Korinjo and six others, is currently under scrutiny. Meanwhile, citizens of the state have described Yakubu Jang as a gentleman who shuns trouble and abides by the rule of law. They attest to his hardworking nature and business acumen, noting that he was engaged in business before his father’s tenure as Governor.
