In a harrowing turn of events, the Plateau State Police Command has confirmed a devastating toll from recent attacks in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas, with 13 lives lost and three individuals left injured. This heart-wrenching revelation was shared by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, during a press briefing in Jos, the State Capital.
According to Alabo, the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, personally visited Bokkos Local Government Area to extend condolences to the bereaved families and the entire Plateau State community. The attacks left 11 people dead in Mangu, while Bokkos recorded two fatalities and three injuries.
In response to these grave developments, the Plateau state Government, through its Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, issued a press statement calling for calm in the wake of the Bokkos attack. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the violence as barbaric and assured citizens, especially students, of the government’s commitment to their safety.

The statement accused the Army of perpetrating a genocide against unarmed indigenes of Bokkos and Plateau State University students.
According to the Youth Progressive, the attacks have resulted in multiple casualties, including the tragic loss of a 200-level student named Dading James Jordan. They called for the complete withdrawal of the Army from the region and urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to investigate allegations of Fulani domination within the security services.
