The Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) took a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage by organizing a retreat and strategy workshop for top management staff and department heads on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, at Lamond Hotel Apollo Crescent Jos.
Addressing the participants, the Director-General of PLASCHEMA, Manasseh Nanfwang, emphasized the importance of the workshop in driving the agency’s five-year strategic plan. The primary objective of PLASCHEMA is to ensure that all residents of Plateau State have access to quality healthcare without facing financial hardship.
Nanfwang underscored his commitment to closely monitor services and ensure that enrollees receive the full benefits of the health scheme. He particularly emphasized the need for primary healthcare centers, especially those in remote areas, to deliver optimal services to the people without any misuse of healthcare facilities for personal gain.
Furthermore, Nanfwang applauded the efforts of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for releasing counterpart funding amounting to N327 million. This funding injection is expected to facilitate increased enrollment and enhance service delivery for vulnerable groups in 2024.
During one of the workshop sessions, Kitch Bawa facilitated a discussion on the importance of strategy and the necessity of strategic planning for organizations. Bawa highlighted how strategic plans create a framework for achieving goals, track progress based on strategic objectives, and help identify biases and flaws in reasoning.
Professor Christopher Yilgwan, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Plateau State Specialist Hospital Jos, emphasized the relevance of such workshops in driving progress for the state’s healthcare scheme. He emphasized the need for all stakeholders to harmonize efforts and chart a way forward to improve healthcare services across the state.
The retreat and workshop provided a platform for robust discussions and strategic planning initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery and achieving universal health coverage in Plateau State.
