The National President of Ngwang Ishi O’Tarok (NIO), Ambassador Nanpon Danjuma Sheni, led a delegation comprising prominent Tarok elders, politicians, business leaders, youths, women, and religious figures on a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. The meeting took place on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Twin Hall, Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.
During the visit, Ambassador Sheni commended Governor Caleb M. Mutfwang for his dedication to improving the state’s economy, infrastructure, agriculture, and social services. He praised the Governor for his unifying approach and recognized his significant achievements in road construction, resettlement of internally displaced persons, and addressing land disputes among the Mikang and Tarok Nation.
Ambassador Sheni also expressed gratitude for the Governor’s appointments of Tarok individuals in his administration.
Furthermore, the NIO President appealed to Governor Mutfwang for various developments, including the construction of the Pankshin-Langtang-Yelwa-Mabudi road, resolution of water scarcity in Langtang South, establishment of a tertiary institution in the Tarok region, and ensuring adequate electricity supply, among other requests.
The NIO President also invited the Governor as Distinguished Guest of Honour to this year’s Ilum OTarok Day celebration, coming up on Saturday 27th April at the mini stadium Langtang.
In response, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang assured that the appeals were duly noted, emphasizing that development remains a priority in his administration. He also called for unity among the Tarok people and pledged to address the provision of potable water for the well-being of the populace. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of selecting a new Ponzhi Tarok to lead the community.
The meeting was attended by various stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Government of Plateau State, Arc. Nanchang Samuel Jatau, Rev. Canon Selcan Miner, Air Marshal J.D. Wuyep (Rtd), Chief Kefas Lar, Chairman, BOT, NIO Executive officers, the Rector of Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin-Ladi, VC of Karl Kumm University Prof. Nanven Gambo, political appointees, special advisers, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Hon. Ubandoma Laven, Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation Assoc. Prof. Obed Gossele, youth representatives, and Ngwang Ishi Ocha Tarok, among others.
