The management of Command Secondary School Jos, Plateau State, has reiterated its dedication to fulfilling parents’ aspirations for the growth and advancement of their children, pledging to uphold their desires without compromise.
During the 41st Annual Inter-house Sports Competition held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the school premises, Lieutenant Colonel Adekunle Udoyemi, the Commandant of the institution, assured parents and other guests of the school’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of its students. He expressed gratitude to parents for entrusting their children’s education and welfare to the school.
Lieutenant Colonel Adekunle emphasized the significance of the event, stating that it marked a remarkable milestone in the school’s history, fostering unity, sportsmanship, and excellence for over four decades. He remarked, “As we gather here today, we celebrate not only athletics but also perseverance, teamwork, discipline, and resilience, qualities that extend beyond the playing field and into the essence of our lives.”
Acknowledging the students’ dedication, rigorous training, and commitment to pushing the boundaries of their capabilities, the Commandant commended them for embodying the spirit of healthy competition, mutual respect, and the pursuit of excellence. He also applauded the teachers, coaches, and staff for their instrumental role in nurturing the talents and dreams of the students, shaping them into the athletes and individuals they are today.
Dr. Maryam Mohammed, the Director/Chief Executive of the National Veterinary Research Institute Vom, represented by Dr. Saty Ngulukun, commended the management of Command Secondary School Jos for organizing a colorful event. Highlighting the universal language of sports, Dr. Mohammed emphasized the importance of sports in breaking stereotypes and fostering unity. She praised the students for their hard work, dedication, and resilience, noting that the event had created an atmosphere of unity among participants.
The Special Guest of Honour, Major General Abdulsalami Abubakar, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army Jos and Commander Operation Safe Haven, represented by Brigadier General MK Sanda, applauded the discipline displayed throughout the competition. He commended the management for the successful organization of the event and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his continued support of Nigerian Army programs and activities.
In the overall competition, Dragon House emerged as the top with 225 points, followed by Tiger House as the first runner-up with 212 points, and Stallion House as the second runner-up with 186 points.
The Corps Commander Education, Major General BA Tsoho, encouraged the students to strive for excellence in all their endeavors. He later officiated the presentation of gifts, trophies, and medals to deserving houses and schools.
The event’s highlights included a march past by competing houses, interschool sports competitions with invited schools, and a combat display by the students, which thrilled those in attendance.
