The recently concluded 2nd IIPCEL Annual Global Conference Awards and Dinner in Jos, Plateau State, saw a convergence of leading voices in entrepreneurship urging increased utilization of digital tools for wealth creation. Organized by the International Institute of Professional Corporate Entrepreneurship and Leadership (IIPCEL), the event showcased insights from a diverse faculty of speakers drawn from various universities across Nigeria.
The conference, held under the theme “Entrepreneurs and Wealth Creation in a Digitalized Economy – Action Plan,” served as a platform for in-depth discussions on leveraging digital technologies for entrepreneurship and economic growth.
Professor Tanko Ishaya, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, emphasized the importance of embracing digital entrepreneurship in today’s economy. He outlined the five pillars of digital entrepreneurship, highlighting the need for a conducive digital business environment, digital awareness, expertise, entrepreneurship culture, and easy access to finance. Professor Ishaya, represented by Professor Emmanuel Umoru Oki, underscored the transformative power of digital technologies in shaping modern entrepreneurship.
Echoing similar sentiments, speakers from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Jos stressed the role of digital entrepreneurship in fostering innovation and creativity. They highlighted the potential of digital tools in creating new products, services, and business models.
In his presentation titled “Trends and Digital Innovations in Education Management and Delivery – Beneficial Impacts on the Economy,” Prof. Johnson Alewo Akubo, Vice Chancellor of Salem University, emphasized the positive correlation between entrepreneurial intentions and wealth creation through new venture creation and employment. Prof. Akubo’s insights were reiterated by speakers from the Department of Business Administration at the University of Jos, including Prof. Meshach G. Goyit, Dr. Reuel J Dakung, and Dr. Nanfa D Kusa.
The Director-General and Chief Executive of IIPCEL, Chief Godwin Urhie, highlighted the vast entrepreneurial opportunities in Nigeria and Africa, particularly in the renewable energy sector. He emphasized the potential for job creation and economic development as the world transitions towards renewable energy sources.
The conference also witnessed the investiture of the First President and Chairman of Council of IIPCEL, Mr. Bitrus Pam Badung, alongside recognition awards for outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship and leadership. Honorees included Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, Hon. Ajang Alfred Iliya, Prof. Johnson Alewo Akubo, Mrs. Grace Nanji Chikan, and Miss Ritmwan Sitkukka.
Mr. Bitrus Pam Badung, in his inaugural address as the new President of IIPCEL, pledged to focus on growing the Institute’s membership and advancing Nigeria and Africa towards a new era of professional entrepreneurship and leadership for sustainable wealth creation and economic development.
The 2nd IIPCEL Annual Global Conference served as a call to action for entrepreneurs to harness the potential of digital technologies in driving economic growth and prosperity.
