Plateau State erupted in wild jubilations as Governor Caleb Mutfwang returned to a hero’s welcome after his recent victory at the Supreme Court, affirming his success in the polls.
The triumphant Governor touched down at Yakubu Gowon Airport on Saturday, January 13th, greeted by an exuberant crowd of jubilant residents, party loyalists, and citizens eager to celebrate the legal vindication. A grand reception ensued at Langsfield Resort, marking the joyous occasion.
The victory followed a landmark decision by a five-member panel led by Justice Emmanuel Agim on January 12th, overturning the appellate court’s ruling and emphasizing the lack of jurisdiction in the primary election dispute that brought Mutfwang to power.
The appellate court had previously mandated a valid congress across Plateau’s 17 Local Government Areas, claiming a violation of a court order by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). However, the Supreme Court emphasized that the validity of nomination and sponsorship does not nullify an election, ultimately reinstating Governor Mutfwang as the duly elected leader.
Speaking at the reception held in honor of the victory at Langsfield Resort Hall, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang dedicated the triumph to God and the people of Plateau State. Expressing gratitude for their unwavering support, he pledged to lead the state with a commitment to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Plateau. Governor Mutfwang called on citizens from all political affiliations to join hands in realizing this vision at this critical juncture in the state’s history.
