Nigeria has been recognized among the top ten countries with the highest number of students studying in the United States.
According to the new Open Doors Report released by the Institute of International Education (IIE) on Monday Nigeria is the sole African country on this list.
Despite challenges such as the foreign exchange crisis, the report indicates a significant increase in the number of Nigerian students in the U.S., with enrolment rising by 22.2% within one year.
The figures reveal that 17,640 Nigerians were studying in the U.S. during the 2022/23 academic year, compared to 14,438 in the previous year.
It said the US hosted 1.06 million international students during the academic year, a 12 per cent increase compared to the previous academic year.
