The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has provided an update regarding the social registrar and the distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives.
Dr. Edu announced that the ministry will soon begin the verification process of the social registrar to ensure a transparent and deserving distribution of the palliatives.
In an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Dr. Edu emphasized the importance of poverty alleviation, stating that it is a top priority for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
She highlighted that the government is committed to creating jobs as a means to alleviate poverty.
“We are starting with the Verification of the social registrar to ensure that it is truly made of people who deserve the fund. We will be creating humanitarian jobs.
“The ministry would be distributing palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.
“We will be very transparent to Nigerians; the target is to lift 133 million Nigerians by 2030”, he stated.
Recall that Edu, upon resumption of office on Monday, pledged commitment to lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
