President Bola Tinubu is currently leading the first session of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) since his assumption of office. The FEC meeting is being convened at the Council Chamber located within the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The new cabinet members were inaugurated last Monday after confirmation by the Senate in line with its constitutional obligation.
Also attending the meeting are Vice President Kashim Shettima; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan; and the Chief of Staff to the President president, Femi Gbajabiamila.
It was learned that the FEC meeting had initially been scheduled for last Wednesday, but it was postponed to give the ministers time to settle into their various ministries after their swearing-in ceremony two days earlier.
According to WesternPost, the president had informed his ministers that the first FEC would now be held on Monday (today).
The ministers have also received a memo to prepare for Monday’s FEC meeting from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
