Youths in Plateau came out today 17th June, 2016 in support of Plateau State
Government’s ranching policy. Numbering several hundreds, the youths
walked through major streets in Jos, holding banners in support of
Government and its position.
They sang songs of adulation to the government and called for urgent
implementation of ranching. It is not immediately clear, what groups are
behind the organisation of the protests, but several of the youth are
people who feel dis-enfranchised by the current debate and how it has
developed.
It would appear the protest is in reaction to previous protest held
by other youth groups last week – particularly as organised by G17, BECO
and women groups.
