A Nigerian woman, Keturah Stephen, has shared how a lighthearted Facebook post she made earlier this year unexpectedly led her to her husband.
On January 10, 2026, Keturah announced on Facebook that she hoped to be married before her 35th birthday, humorously writing that her preferred wedding date was May 16.
“My wedding date is supposed to be 16th May 2026. Is there a man willing to take the risk? Send me a DM, let’s talk,” she wrote.
While many people responded with jokes and laughter, one man, Joel Gojeh, took the post seriously. Although they were not Facebook friends and had only two mutual connections, he sent her a direct message after seeing the post on his timeline.
According to Keturah, Joel later told her he had just finished praying and asking God about his future wife when he opened Facebook and came across her post. Believing it was more than a coincidence, he decided to reach out.
After exchanging messages on Facebook, the pair continued their conversations on WhatsApp. Joel, who was based in Ghana, travelled to Nigeria for a ministry engagement in February and visited Keturah in Kaduna on February 15, where he surprised her with a marriage proposal.
The couple officially began their relationship on February 16. Less than two weeks later, Joel visited Keturah’s family with some of his relatives to formally declare his intentions and begin the traditional marriage process.
On May 9, his family representatives paid her bride price, ensuring she was traditionally married before the May 16 date she had hoped for and ahead of her 35th birthday. The couple later held their church wedding on July 26 after completing marriage counselling and other preparations.
Reflecting on the journey, Keturah said what began as a humorous Facebook post became the start of her lifelong relationship.
She revealed that throughout their courtship, they intentionally built their relationship on faith by studying the Bible together, praying regularly and undergoing multiple marriage counselling sessions.
Keturah described the experience as a testimony of God’s faithfulness, saying it reminded her that “God is never late” and can accomplish His plans in ways people least expect.
She concluded by giving thanks to God, saying their story was proof that His timing can turn an ordinary moment into an extraordinary blessing.
