We Jos want #FilmVillage RE:proposed film village cancellation

President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this week cancelled the plan to build a massive world-class film village in Kano State, following social media outcry and opposition from Muslim clerics.  More than N3 billion was budgeted for the project as part of the government’s efforts to improve the Hausa language film industry known as Kannywood.

The government argued that the village would create thousands of job opportunities and promote cultural activities as “Films are the best ambassador of culture of any country”.

Now why totally cancel a proposed project with a huge prospect like the film village? wouldn’t it be better to take it elsewhere that it is sure to thrive even more?

The nigerian movie industry is ranked 4th in the world and for an industry that is already employing over 3million Nigerians, taking such project to Jos Plateau State will not only be a welcomed idea but a laudable one as it is sure to be the best option considering that plateau is climatically and geographically situated for tourism and such is every Film makers dream.

The state has contributed largely to the growth on film making in Nigeria little wonder is houses the National Film Cooperation and the National Film Institute also with the launching of digitization in Nigeria with Plateau state as the pioneer start up state.

We therefore advocate that rather than a complete cancellation of the film village project, We Jos want #FilmVillage
