The All Progressives Congress, APC has said President Muhammadu
Buhari does not need to submit his WAEC certificate to the Independent
National Electoral Commission, INEC ahead of the 2019 election.
The National Publicity Secretary of the ruling party, Lanre Isa-Onilu
stated this on Friday, explaining that INEC had never expressed doubt
about the claim made by President Buhari in the affidavit attached to
his personal particulars submitted to the electoral body that his
original WASC certificate was with the Military Board.
Speaking with the Tribune, APC Spokesman said: “We don’t need to
submit to INEC. INEC has never expressed reservations about the
documents that President Muhammadu Buhari attached to his personal
particulars.
“Now that WAEC has issued Mr President his certificate, any of the
Doubting Thomases can approach the body (WAEC) for authentication or
clarification.”
DAILY POST recalls that Buhari had been under attack after he failed
to submit his credentials to the Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC as the various presidential candidates’ credentials
were made available.
Buhari only submitted an affidavit where he claimed that his credential was with the Secretary of the Military Board.
But, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on Friday announced that President Muhammadu Buhari had received the attestation certificate and confirmation of school certificate result from the West African Examination Council, WAEC, suppressing all doubts.
The attestation was presented to the president at the State House,
Abuja, during a courtesy visit by a delegation from WAEC led by the
body’s Registrar, Dr Iyi Uwadiae.
