No fewer than 19 more Nigerians have been added to the United States government’s list of foreign nationals slated for deportation over criminal offenses, bringing the total number of Nigerians scheduled for removal to 113.
Details published on Sunday by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security show that the latest group includes individuals convicted of crimes such as sexual assault involving a minor, fraud, assault, drug trafficking, and money laundering.
The department stated that those on the list were arrested by officials of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and will be returned to Nigeria after required immigration procedures are completed. It described the action as part of ongoing enforcement efforts prioritizing non-citizens with serious criminal records, in line with directives under President Donald Trump.
Among the newly listed Nigerians are Adeolu Solabu, Oladayo Agboola, Chinonso Ochie, Oluchi Jennifer Chimdimma Chime, Samuel Omorodion, Sunday Adediora, Sunday Kunkushi, Mkpouto Etukudoh, Marcus Unigwe, Kehinde James, Blessing Uchanma, Victor Adebisi, Richard Ugbah, Olaniyi Ojikutu, Oluwamuyiwa Olawoye, Okechukwu Amadi, Femi Jolayemi, Anthony Asanya, Izuchukwu Okoye, and Ebele Agbasiele.
Earlier, 79 convicted Nigerians had been named for deportation, and the figure rose to 113 within three weeks following the addition of the new names. The action is part of broader US efforts targeting undocumented migrants and non-citizens with criminal convictions
