The
youths in plateau state came out today 13th June, to protest grazing
reserves on the plateau. They came out as early as 7am to peacefully
protest at the Old Plateau State Government House.

correspondent speaking to one of the protesters,Morgan Tok said grazing
reserves are good but not for Plateau State as the state is better
known for farming. So it will not favour the ‘Plateau Man’ rather it is a
ploy for the herdsmen to benefit, stating that the government should
consult and know that the plateau people are not in support of any ploy
for land grabbing called grazing reserve.
The
gathering was later addressed by Dr Giwa Gwomson as he brought before
the press and general public the 3 basic talking points that makes the
grazing reserve bill totally unacceptable. He further described grazing
as a personal business and as such the government should not empower a
particular group by forcefully taking another mans land and handing it
over to another in the name of grazing reserve.
The protesters will
do a 3day long stand, from 7am to 7pm until they are heard with the
possibility of an extension if the plateau state government does not
come up with a resolution. The protesters held various placards and
banners with write ups to express their grievances and played
emancipation songs. There was also heavy presence of security personel
to ensure law and order at the protest ground.
