Residents of Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State have been left shocked following the discovery of the mutilated body of an unidentified man behind the Monday Market in the area.
The deceased was reportedly found in the early hours of Tuesday by members of the community, who alerted security personnel after noticing the remains. The body was subsequently evacuated to the General Hospital, Pankshin, as efforts were made to establish the man’s identity.
Residents who spoke about the incident said some parts of the deceased’s body had been severely mutilated. According to community sources, his ears and nose had reportedly been cut off, while his private parts were also found to have been tampered with.
A community member, Panshak Rogo, said the circumstances surrounding the man’s death remained unclear, as no one had come forward to identify him or explain what happened. He urged residents who have relatives reported missing to contact the police or visit the Pankshin General Hospital to assist with identification.
Security operatives have commenced efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovery and identify those responsible, while the Plateau State Police Command had yet to officially confirm details of the incident as of the time of filing the reports.
