South African singer Tyla has removed her scheduled Lagos concert from her official world tour itinerary, with the December 22 date no longer appearing on her list of performances.

The development comes amid growing calls from some Nigerians to boycott the singer’s planned concert following renewed tensions over xenophobic attacks on Nigerians living in South Africa and the recent deportation of more than 1,000 Nigerians accused of residing illegally in the country.

The boycott campaign gained momentum on social media after several public figures and users urged Nigerians not to support the concert in protest against the reported treatment of Nigerians in South Africa.

However, Tyla and her management team have not issued any official statement explaining why the Lagos performance was removed from the tour schedule.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no confirmation that the cancellation was connected to the boycott campaign or the recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
