Troops Arrest Two Suspected Vandals Over Solar Street Light Damage in Jos East

Troops of Sector 1, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), have arrested two suspected vandals for allegedly vandalising government-installed solar street lights in Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Isiyaku Mohammed and 27-year-old Ali Kazaure, were arrested at about 4:20 p.m. on August 7, 2026, while troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, were conducting a patrol along the road in Babawo village.

According to a military source, the troops apprehended the suspects while they were allegedly vandalising solar lighting infrastructure installed by the government.

Following their arrest, the suspects were handed over to the Keystone Outpost, Babawo, for further investigation and appropriate action.

Security agencies are expected to investigate the extent of the suspects’ involvement in the alleged vandalism and determine whether they may be connected to similar incidents reported in the area.
