Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abraham was listed among members of the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, alongside several other prominent actors and musicians.
However, the actress has publicly distanced herself from the campaign structure, saying she has decided to stay away from politics.
In a statement shared on her Instagram Story on Thursday, Abraham said she was not a member of any campaign council and urged the public to disregard her reported inclusion.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee.”
Her statement came shortly after the Lagos APC campaign structure was unveiled by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre.
The Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate lists Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, with veteran actor Jide Kosoko as Co-Director and actress Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director.
Other entertainers named in the directorate include Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Pasuma, Obesere, Adewale Ayuba and Small Doctor, among others.
The campaign council is scheduled for formal inauguration on Friday, September 18, in Lagos.
Abraham’s latest position comes after her public involvement in the 2023 presidential election, when she expressed support for President Bola Tinubu, who contested on the APC platform.
Despite her name appearing on the newly released campaign council list, Abraham has now stated that she does not belong to any campaign committee and wants to remain outside partisan politics.
As of the time of reporting, there had been no public explanation from the Lagos APC campaign council regarding how Abraham’s name came to be included in the published structure despite her subsequent denial.
