Popular Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has announced that she is expecting her first child.
Sharing the news on her Instagram page on Tuesday, August 13, Makinwa described the pregnancy as the “biggest project” of her life and the “highest calling ever,” expressing gratitude to God for what she called a perfectly timed blessing.
Reflecting on her journey, she revealed that her declaration at the start of 2025 — “What a difference a year can make” — has come to pass in the most remarkable way.
“You did this one, God,” she wrote. “You have completely changed my life… You make all things beautiful in your time and this is just perfect.”
The 39-year-old, who began her career as an on-air personality before becoming a prominent TV host, actress, and entrepreneur, said the experience has brought her unmatched joy. She also spoke about the challenges and waiting period before this moment, noting that the delay prepared her for motherhood.
“My healed pain will break someone else’s chain… I’ve worn so many hats over the years but this one trumps it all,” she said. “You get to see me as a mother; I get to raise my own.”
Addressing her unborn child, Makinwa added: “I cannot wait to meet you. You’ve made me the happiest person on earth… You are the answer to my prayers.”
The announcement was accompanied by photos capturing her pregnancy glow, marking a new chapter in the life of one of Nigeria’s most celebrated media figures.
