President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as the new Minister of Power, following the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu.
The nomination was announced in a statement issued on April 30, 2026, by the State House and signed by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga. In line with constitutional requirements, the President has forwarded Tegbe’s name to the Senate of Nigeria for screening and confirmation.
Adelabu is reported to have stepped down from the position to pursue an elective political office, creating a vacancy in the country’s power sector leadership.
If confirmed, Tegbe is expected to assume responsibility for one of Nigeria’s most critical sectors, amid ongoing efforts to improve electricity generation and distribution nationwide.
