Tinubu Grants Presidential Pardon to 15 Nigerians, Commutes Four Death Sentences

The Presidency has released a new list of individuals granted clemency by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of the government’s ongoing exercise of prerogative of mercy.

According to the statement, 15 Nigerians received presidential pardons, four inmates had their death sentences commuted to life imprisonment, while another 15 individuals were granted various forms of clemency.

Among those pardoned are notable figures such as Hon. Farouk M. Lawan, Major General Mamman Jiya Vatsa, and environmental activist Ken Saro-Wiwa, alongside several other Nigerians.

  15. John Kpuine

Death sentences commuted to life imprisonment:

  4. Mohammed Umar

Beneficiaries of presidential clemency:

The Presidency stated that the move was part of efforts to promote justice reform, show compassion, and decongest correctional facilities across the country.
