Tinubu Appoints Fayose, Others into Key Federal Government Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, appointed Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who said they take immediate effect.

According to the statement, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The board also includes the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.

President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries and Wages Commission, with former House of Representatives member, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, named Secretary of the commission.

Other appointments to the commission include Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Additional members are Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).

The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.

In other appointments, Dr. Abuh Mohammed was named Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr. Akinola Odeyemi was appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc.

Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, while Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing the late Dr. A.R. Kamal.

President Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other board members include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the President appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and current Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
