A fresh wave of violence has hit Lightlubang village in Bungha District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, as suspected gunmen killed five people, including a couple and their child.
The attackers also claimed the lives of another couple, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Reports indicate that the gunmen continued their assault in other parts of the local government, heightening fear among residents.
A source told The Guardian that “From Monday, January 27 till this Saturday, February 1st, no fewer than 10 people were cruelly murdered by the same suspected militia. It was confirmed by the police who witnessed the attacks in Mangu.”
Residents are appealing for increased security to protect the community from further violence.
Efforts to reach the Plateau State Police Command for comments were unsuccessful when this report was filed.
