Nigeria secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding 4–0 victory over Mozambique on Monday night.
The win marked a historic achievement for the Super Eagles, as it is the first time they have won their opening four matches at the tournament.
Nigeria topped Group C with a perfect record and once again underlined their dominance over the Mambas in the encounter played in Fez.
Ademola Lookman opened the scoring before providing the assist for Victor Osimhen to double Nigeria’s lead before halftime. Osimhen went on to score his second goal shortly after the restart, once again benefiting from Lookman’s creativity.
The rout was completed when Akor Adams fired home a powerful strike from inside the penalty area to make it 4–0.
Eric Chelle’s side will now face the winner of the quarter-final clash between Burkina Faso and DR Congo as they continue their quest for continental glory.
