Chippa United F.C. has announced the return of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The South African club confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through its official social media channels, expressing excitement at welcoming the Nigerian international back to the Eastern Cape.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club said in a post.
In a follow-up statement, the club added: “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
The 30-year-old goalkeeper returns to Chippa United after spending about seven months away from competitive football following his departure from the club by mutual consent earlier this year.
His absence from club football also affected his international career, as he lost his place in the Super Eagles squad during the period.
Nwabali first joined Chippa United from Katsina United in 2022 and established himself as one of the club’s key players.
He gained international recognition after playing a pivotal role in Nigeria’s impressive run to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
His return is expected to strengthen Chippa United’s squad as the club prepares for the new South African top-flight season.
