Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy has dismissed claims linking his unshaved armpits to voodoo or supernatural powers.

Speaking in a recent interview with Apple Music, the Afrofusion star described the notion as both “hilarious” and “dumb,” stressing that people have created strange myths around his appearance.

When asked about a common misconception people have about him, Burna Boy replied:

“One is that I don’t like to shave my armpits. People think it’s like Samson in the Bible whose power was in his hair. Some people even claim my armpit is where my power is because I don’t shave. In Nigeria, you hear crazy things. Some think it’s some voodoo sh*t, like my power is in my armpits [laughs].”

The artist added that he once tried to verify if such a belief could even be possible, only to confirm it was nothing more than baseless speculation.
