Former Kaduna Central senator, Shehu Sani, has raised concerns over the Federal Government’s fresh allocation of over N12 billion for the renovation of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, outlined in the 2025 “Budget of Restoration.”

The budget, presented by President Bola Tinubu to the 10th National Assembly, allocates N12.77 billion out of the National Sports Commission’s (NSC) N94.95 billion total budget for upgrading the stadium’s main bowl.

According to the budget details, the National Sports Commission, NSC, will spend N12,772,951,242 out of its N94,947,006,325 total budget on the Abuja stadium’s main bowl upgrade.

The sum of N4.5 billion was also allocated for construction of a sports secretariat at the Abuja Stadium, N3.65 billion for procuring official vehicles and utility needs while N1.2 billion was budgeted for building a National Olympic Committee, NOC, headquarters in Abuja.

Reacting to the development amid growing hardship in Nigeria, Shehu Sani in a post on his X handle on Sunday, stated that the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, was renovated by Aliko Dangote in 2022.

While questioning the 2025 budget allocation, he revealed that Dangote had renovated the same stadium with $1 million.

“In 2022, Dangote renovated the Abuja stadium with $1m and I heard the stadium is among those to be renovated with N31 Billion in 2025. I will find out where would be renovated.”
