A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has officially entered the race for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District seat after picking up the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress.

The move signals his return to active electoral politics ahead of the next general election cycle, as political activities intensify within the ruling party.

Sani, a former labour activist and well-known political figure, previously served as Senator for Kaduna Central and is widely recognised for his grassroots mobilisation and outspoken advocacy on governance issues. His entry into the contest is expected to significantly shape the dynamics of the senatorial race.

Party stakeholders and observers say his decision could heighten competition among aspirants seeking the APC ticket in the district.

According to the party’s timetable, the sale of nomination forms is scheduled to run from April 25 to May 2, 2026, while submission of completed forms closes on May 4, 2026.

Screening of aspirants for various positions—including the State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, governorship, and presidential tickets—is expected to take place between May 6 and May 9, 2026.

The APC primaries for all elective offices, including the Senate, are scheduled to hold between May 15 and May 23, 2026.
