Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has clarified reports linking him to a ₦20 million donation made to Nollywood actress Sarah Martins following her recent ordeal with street harassment in Lagos.
Recall that Sarah Martins had reportedly received ₦20 million after a viral video showed her being harassed while cooking on the street — a gesture many attributed directly to Seyi Tinubu.
However, in a statement shared on his social media page, Seyi explained that the donation was not from him personally but from some of his friends who were moved by her situation.
“Their intention, I believe, was to help her secure a proper space to run her business, not to undermine the law. I appreciate their kindness and concern,” he wrote.
Seyi further emphasized the importance of obeying the law, noting that while compassion is commendable, it must not come at the expense of public order.
“That said, I must emphasise that while their hearts were in the right place, I do not support any act that violates the laws of Lagos State. Lagos thrives on order, and Nigeria’s strength depends on our collective respect for both our law and order. Empathy and patriotism must always go together,” he stated.
