Senator Uche Ekwunife, the Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, has tendered an apology to Governor Charles Soludo and his wife, Nonye, following a heated exchange that recently escalated into personal allegations.
The dispute began after Governor Soludo reportedly accused Ekwunife of parading a fake PhD, a claim that triggered a sharp response from the senator, during which she dragged the governor’s wife into the controversy with accusations of infidelity.
In a counter-response, the First Lady challenged Ekwunife to a DNA test on children from both families, further fueling the row.
However, in a statement signed by her Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Tony Ezike, Ekwunife distanced herself from a viral publication alleging that Nonye Soludo had children for Chief Chris Uba, stressing that the article did not originate from her camp.
“The attention of Sen. Uche Ekwunife, the Anambra APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, has been drawn to an article falsely attributed to her camp, alleging that Mrs. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the Anambra State Governor, had children for Chief Chris Uba.
“Sen. Uche Ekwunife categorically states that although she has been maligned, defamed, and disparaged by the governor’s media team, the said publication did not emanate from her or her camp.
“She further wishes to apologise to the Governor, his wife, and the general public who may have been affected by the altercations of the past few days,” the statement read.
Ekwunife also urged her supporters to remain focused on the campaign and to avoid media statements that could suggest further conflict with the First Family or any other individuals.
