The Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Senator Diket Plang, has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering impactful representation for his constituents through employment opportunities, constituency projects, and key legislative interventions.

Speaking to journalists at his residence in Jos on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Senator Plang said his approach to representation is driven by close engagement with the people, noting that he often makes unscheduled visits to community events, including weddings, where he interacts with constituents and offers support.

The senator disclosed that he has facilitated employment for over 100 graduates into various federal agencies, adding that the list of beneficiaries would soon be published. According to him, several others have also gained employment in paramilitary agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

“I am particularly interested in placing qualified graduates with first and second degrees into federal institutions where they can grow and contribute meaningfully,” Plang said, noting that beneficiaries are currently serving in agencies including the Federal Inland Revenue Service, National Assembly Service Commission, National Directorate of Employment, Federal Medical Centres and other key institutions.

He also revealed plans to sponsor four students from Plateau Central to study in India, saying their admissions and visa processes had been concluded.

Responding to allegations of underperformance, Senator Plang described such claims as unfair and politically motivated, stressing that his record in office is verifiable. He highlighted that despite being a first-time senator, he currently chairs the Senate Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, serves as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Federal Character, and is a member of several strategic committees including Appropriation, Finance, Customs, Navy and Air Force.

On constituency projects, the senator listed extensive interventions across Plateau Central, particularly in education and security. He said he has completed perimeter fencing of over five secondary schools in Mangu, Pankshin and Kanke local government areas to improve security and protect school property. He also provided solar-powered lighting to schools, health centres, police stations, worship centres and vulnerable communities affected by insecurity.

Among other interventions, Senator Plang said he facilitated the construction and fencing of police facilities, including a divisional police office in Gindiri and a police outpost in Kantana, alongside residential units for officers. He also undertook road grading projects, water supply schemes through motorised and hand-pump boreholes, and distributed farm inputs including fertiliser, pumping machines, pesticides and insecticides to farmers.

In the area of empowerment, the senator said he has distributed grinding machines, sewing machines, salon equipment and POS machines to women and youths, while also supporting students by paying WAEC and NECO examination fees for selected schools. He added that he supplied laptops to schools and built classrooms and examination halls in several communities.

On legislative achievements, Senator Plang said he has sponsored multiple bills, some of which have passed both chambers of the National Assembly and are awaiting presidential assent. These include bills for the establishment of a Federal University of Mining and Geosciences, a Federal Medical Centre, a National Eye Centre in Mangu, an Artificial Intelligence and Innovation Centre in Jos, and a Water and Irrigation Institute.

He also highlighted his role in moving motions on insecurity in Plateau State and sponsoring the motion that led to the inclusion of the Akwanga–Jos–Gombe Road as one of the President’s legacy projects.

Senator Plang urged constituents and political actors to engage in constructive politics, calling for unity rather than antagonism ahead of future elections.

“Politics should be about ideas and service to the people. To say that I have done nothing is simply not true. Most of these projects are physical and visible,” he said.

He assured constituents of his determination to do more within the remaining period of his tenure.
