Senator Diket Plang Flags Off Distribution of Buses, Motorcycles, Grinding Machines

Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Senator Diket Plang, has flagged off the distribution of various empowerment and support items aimed at improving education, security, sports development, and economic empowerment across the constituency.

As part of the initiative, Senator Plang donated two 2018 Toyota 18-seater buses to the Mwaghavul College of Health Technology, Pushit, and the Plateau State College of Health Technology, Pankshin.

The presentation ceremony, which was marked by joy and celebration, was attended by the Plateau State Commissioner for Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Kachollom Pyam Gang, alongside political leaders, education stakeholders, and community members.

In addition to the buses, the Senator also distributed 21 motorcycles to support security operations within communities across the constituency.

Over 20 grinding machines were equally earmarked for distribution to constituents as part of efforts to promote small-scale businesses and economic empowerment, especially among women and vulnerable groups.

The intervention package also included sporting equipment and jerseys for 10 schools within the constituency to encourage youth participation in sports and promote grassroots talent development.

Speaking during the presentation, Senator Diket Plang described the two colleges of health technology as critical institutions serving not only Plateau Central but the entire nation.

He stressed the importance of strengthening health institutions, especially in rural communities, noting that primary healthcare centres require continuous support and training to keep health workers updated on emerging health challenges and disease control measures.

According to him, supporting the colleges was a contribution towards sustaining quality healthcare delivery and strengthening the health sector.

Senator Plang also commended the Plateau State Government for ongoing rehabilitation and upgrading of healthcare facilities across rural communities.

He assured the institutions of his continued support, particularly in the areas of infrastructural and human capital development, adding that he would explore opportunities through intervention agencies such as TETFund to attract additional support.

The Plateau State Commissioner for Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Kachollom Pyam Gang, commended Senator Plang for the gesture and described the intervention as a demonstration of responsive and people-oriented leadership.

She noted that the buses donated to the institutions would greatly assist in academic and practical activities, while the motorcycles would contribute to improving security around schools and communities.

The Commissioner also appreciated the Senator for his support towards education, women empowerment, and grassroots development, assuring that the donated buses would be properly utilized for academic purposes.

Dr. Gang further praised Senator Plang’s leadership style and commitment to the welfare of the people, while urging continued support for the present administration in Plateau State.

The distribution exercise, according to stakeholders at the event, reflects Senator Diket Plang’s continued commitment to education, youth empowerment, security, and grassroots development across Plateau Central Senatorial District.
